Preparedness for the New Strain Influenza (Pandemic Influenza A - H1N1)
The new strain influenza is spreading across Japan. We must prevent the flu individually. It is said that the new strain influenza symptom is similar to that of seasonal flu. The new strain influenza stricken patients develop seasonal influenza-like symptoms, such as fever, feeling of malaise, loss of appetite and cough. There are some patients who have a runny nose, a sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
If you develop such symptoms, please make a phone call to your personal physician (or a hospital) before you go to see a doctor. Please be sure that you wear a mask when you go to see a doctor to prevent further spread of the new strain flu infection.
Seasonal flu precautions are effective to prevent the new strain influenza:
So-called “Cough Etiquette”;
* Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or a handkerchief when coughing or sneezing.
Wear a mask when you go out;
Wash your hands and gargle your throat when you come home;
Reduce the time spent in crowded settings if possible;
Eat nutritious food and get enough rest;
Keep the living space at a moderate temperature and humidity.
