Don’t forget to apply for the child allowance (Kodomo teate)

• The child allowance (Kodomo teate) is granted to parents and guardians raising children who have not yet finished junior high school, and up to March 31, after they have reached the age of fifteen.
  ※Public employees (with some exceptions,) should apply at their workplace.
  ※If the main income earner lives outside Wako city (ex.: a job transfer not accompanied by family), the application should be applied for at the municipal office of the residential city (ward, town or village) of the main income earner. In such cases, a residence certificate listing all family members is required.
  

《Benefit payment》
13,000 yen per month (The combined payments are made in June, October and February for the preceding period.)

《Required documents needed for application:》
For applicants who are applying for the child allowance for the first time (For people moving to Wako city, or are having their first child)
1) Child Allowance Requisition Form (Available at the Child Medical Care Section)
2) The personal seal of the applicant (or that of parent or guardian)
3) Proof of the applicant’s (or parent’s or guardian’s) bank account, such as a bank passbook or an ATM card.
4) If you are a member of the Employees’ Pension Insurance or the Mutual Aid Association, a photocopy of the applicant’s Health Insurance Card(or Certificate) is required. (You may have to submit your pension certificate.)

For applicants who apply for an additional child allowance (When the number of eligible children in your household increases.)
1) Child Allowance Requisition Form to revise the amount (Available at Child Medical Care Section)
2) The personal seal of the applicant (or parent or guardian).

《NOTICE》
※ The Child allowance shall be paid from the following month after you submit the application. Please note that retroactive pay is not applicable.
※ If you move into Wako city or have a child at the end of the month, the child allowance will be paid from the following month only if you apply for the allowance within 15 days from the end of the month.
